TACTILE STUDIOS
BRIEF
Tactile Studios is an independent analogue printing studio in London, offering both analogue and digital photographic printing services. They approached me to redesign their brand identity, with a vision to honour the timeless artistry of traditional photographic printing while introducing a sense of bold modernity to reach a wider creative audience.
APPROACH & CREATIVE DIRECTION
My goal was to create a brand that felt both authentic and contemporary - a balance between the craft of darkroom processes and the clarity of a modern design system. Drawing inspiration from the intricate, hands-on techniques of analogue printing, I developed a visual direction that celebrated tactility and imperfection while remaining clean and versatile.
EXECUTION & OUTCOME
The rebrand delivered a full suite of brand guidelines, assets, and a mobile-responsive website. Design motifs referenced the darkroom - negative image filters, a deep red colour palette, and handwritten scribbles that echoed the tactile mark-making of the printing process. These elements created a brand identity that felt deeply connected to its roots while positioning the studio as bold, confident, and forward-looking.
The outcome was a brand that both honours tradition and embraces contemporary design. Tactile Studios emerged with a refreshed identity that communicates its craftsmanship, celebrates the artistry of analogue printing, and resonates with today’s creative community.
