SELECTED WORK
Inspired by design principles and the built environment, Sabrina’s abstract practice explores the relationship between geometry, material and space. Using elementary architectural forms, charcoal and aluminium, she creates non-objective compositions that examine the psychological impact of visual simplicity and structure.
Each painting begins with a mathematically plotted grid, forming an underlying framework that reflects the ordered nature of the urban landscape. This rigid system becomes the foundation from which each composition evolves.
Working through an intuitive process of layering, erasing and refinement, Sabrina gradually disrupts the precision of the grid. The use of contrasting materials, ranging from traditional media such as charcoal to more industrial materials such as aluminium, establishes a dialogue between softness and rigidity, as well as between unpredictability and control.
Balancing strategy with instinct, her work investigates how simple forms and contrasting materials can evoke tension, rhythm and quiet moments of contemplation.
